Did you know that we use our students as members of our run crew for ALL our productions! Every show you see has dedicated young people running the spotlights, handling the backstage set moves or prop handoffs, costume quick changes and sometimes even running the light board or body mics.  It’s a whole other world of theatre and no theatre can operate without it.

Students in this class will explore different “crafts” that connect to theatre elements of design – puppetry, masks, costumes, set design, sound, lights and more. Students will also be introduced to our Bell Stage - backstage and booth areas – to really get behind the scenes and see the back side of the scenery and the prop and costume set-ups for PINKALICIOUS! Students will also delve into the technical side of theatre and get to go up to the grid and follow-spot catwalk, learn how to safely operate a follow-spot as well as learning how to run a computerized lighting console in our state-of-the-art theatre space. This class will help students get acquainted with the technical theatre world as well as backstage run crew jobs and expectations. A chance to explore the backstage side of theatre and potentially get ready to work on one of our upcoming productions (not a requirement, but an option).

Students must wear closed-toe shoes for safety, have long hair tied back and wear clothes that can get dirty.

There will be no “sharing” video for parents, but there will be some take-home projects!

**We DO meet when Greenville County Schools are off for Teacher Workdays or Holidays, but will skip all classes during the Greenville County Schools Spring Break week, March 18-22, 2024.**
