Channel your child’s endless creative energy into directed dramatic play! Games, stories, music and poetry inspire character exploration, teamwork and imagination. This low-pressure environment will ease a child into comfortably being in front of people and expressing ideas to a group. Through games, activities and songs we can explore group problem solving, being seen and heard in front of an audience, areas of the stage, and character development. Some theatre exercises and activities are used each session, but teachers are sensitive to the needs of returning students, so these classes are appropriate to take several times in order to further hone developing skills.
Though there is no official “sharing” at the end of this mini-mester, we will still be working on all the standard acting exercises, performance skills and terminology.
All students must be able to use the bathroom completely by themselves as needed (which means we will not remove clothes, re-dress nor enter the bathroom stall with your child to assist with wiping). Please be certain your child is in clothes that are simple for him/her to remove as needed for potty breaks. SCCT Teachers/Assistants will not change diapers. We have discovered that very young kids who may not be familiar with public restrooms, benefit from their parent showing them how our self-flushing toilets work.
**We DO meet when Greenville County Schools are off for Teacher Workdays or Holidays, and MAY meet when schools cancel due to weather if the roads are safe in the afternoon.**
If needed—we will add a class the week of Feb 12-16 to make up a class lost due to weather.
