Great preparation for literacy and problem solving this class allows the students to explore themes, characters, and settings of a different children’s book each week.  Students act-out and perform creatively through the world of the book, but the focus is more on understanding the parts of the book and overcoming obstacles creatively within a group rather than in simple individual performance.  Fantastic for group interaction and socialization while keeping students engaged at solving the conflict presented in the literature.  Great fun and a great foundation for reading.

Though there is no official “sharing” at the end of this mini-mester, we will still be working on all the standard acting exercises, performance skills and terminology.

All students must be able to use the bathroom completely by themselves as needed (which means we will not remove clothes, re-dress nor enter the bathroom stall with your child to assist with wiping). Please be certain your child is in clothes that are simple for him/her to remove as needed for potty breaks.  SCCT Teachers/Assistants will not change diapers. We have discovered that very young kids who may not be familiar with public restrooms, benefit from their parent showing them how our self-flushing toilets work.

**We DO meet when Greenville County Schools are off for Teacher Workdays or Holidays (except MLK Day), and MAY meet when schools cancel due to weather if the roads are safe in the afternoon.**

If needed—we will add a classtime before or after this class for multiple weeks to make up a class lost due to weather or issue a credit to use on a Spring or Summer class/camp.
