Item details

Date

July 17, 2023 2:30PM

Name

Creative Drama & Craft Play | Ages 3-6

Description

July 17-21 | 2:30 – 5:30 PM | $150

The activity-based afternoon camp (Sorry, morning campers in the same week should NOT enroll.  There is no supervision available after lunch, and morning campers will need some down-time.) will be full to the brim of theatre games, freeze dances, craft time and fun, fun fun! There will be no “sharing” video for parents, just a bunch of socialization, exploration and interaction for the younger set.

All students must be able to use the bathroom completely by themselves as needed.  SCCT Teachers/Assistants will not change diapers or assist inside the bathroom stall with wiping or dressing.  We have discovered that very young kids who may not be familiar with public restrooms, benefit from their parent showing them, on the first day, how our self-flushing toilets work.
Students are asked to wear clothing they are comfortable moving in, shoes that stay on their feet, and to bring a water bottle labelled with their name. Please also provide a nut-free snack & a beverage for your child.

GENERAL SCCT CLASS INFO - Games, stories, music, and poetry inspire character exploration, teamwork, and imagination.  This low-pressure environment will ease a child into comfortably being in front of people and expressing ideas to a group. Each theme will present different sources for inspiration, but all will include a variety of activities to keep students engaged and working together. Games, activities, and songs will be based on the camp theme while exploring group problem solving, being seen and heard in front of an audience, areas of the stage, and character development.
Fantastic for group interaction and socialization while keeping students engaged creating the story and exploring all the possibilities in our imaginations. There will be music and dancing too to help get those wiggles out, plus some kind of craft they get to take home. A great way to spend the morning, making new friends and having a blast!

Due to limited space for audiences in our classrooms, we will record the end-of-week “sharing” and send parent’s the video link allowing each family to celebrate their child’s performance at a time convenient for everyone in the family and making it possible to easily share with distant family members. The student is also able to see their performance on screen! And you can opt to download the video directly from the link provided to keep forever. As this camp is primarily activity-based, the end-of-week “sharing” video will contain a “year-book” sampling of various activities throughout the week, rather than a standard performance.  Instead of spending rehearsal time each day in preparation for a “performance,” which unavoidably feels repetitive to most students, the students in this camp get to change up their activities every day.  Great option for summer!  Drama skills are still used in exercises, just no required memorization of lines or movement.
