This camp only meets Wednesday through Friday due to the July 4th Holiday.

Theatre games, beginning character development, basic terminology, acting techniques & creative expression will be taught through acting, movement & games.  Create characters, explore dramatic interpretation of classic stories, learn lingo and challenge your imagination and expression.  We also stress the collaborative process, so students learn to show respect for other ideas.

Students are asked to wear clothing they are comfortable moving in, shoes that stay on their feet, and to bring a water bottle labelled with their name. Please also provide a nut-free snack & a beverage for your child.

“Sharings” are informal performances we prepare for the final day. Our goal is to engage the students in preparing for the low-pressure performance, without causing undo anxiety and not spending every minute of class time solely repeating rehearsals. The “sharings” will not be highly polished and will be very low tech as our primary goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable class experience, filled with group interaction and fun.
Due to limited space for audiences in our classrooms, we will record the end-of-week “sharing” and send parent’s the video link allowing each family to celebrate their child’s performance at a time convenient for everyone in the family and making it possible to easily share with distant family members. The student is also able to see their performance on screen! And you can opt to download the video directly from the link provided to keep forever.

GENERAL SCCT CLASS INFO - Explore the process of theatre training through high-energy theatre games, improvisation, and activities. Learn lingo and challenge your imagination and expression. Every class will include a variety of dramatic activities and training styles. Games, stories, movies, and books inspire character exploration and teamwork.  This low-pressure environment will ease a child into comfortably being in front of people and expressing ideas to a group while exploring collaborative problem solving, being seen and heard in front of an audience, areas of the stage, and character development while learning basic theatrical concepts. Some theatre exercises and activities are revisited each session, but teachers are sensitive to the needs of returning students, so these classes are appropriate to take several times to further hone developing skills. All our classes are built on a standardized curriculum with advancing goals for students from ages 3-18. Students need to develop the foundational knowledge, before advancing to an Intermediate level class (Pre-Test required) where they will be given more responsibilities/homework and must be willing to attend class consistently and repeat material weekly for rehearsal as well as completing homework assignments in a week and be capable of finding their own material to work on.

Please note: progression through acting classes is not like progressing through grade levels of school—each year advancing up.  Many children simply enjoy the kinesthetic learning and team building aspects of drama class. Your child should be enthusiastic about their participation and should only move to a higher-level class when they have mastered core components and are seeking further challenge. In general, we suggest a minimum of two full years of Process level classes before moving to Intermediate level classes.
