VIRTUAL Write Your Own Play | Grades 6-12
WEDNESDAYS | September 9-November 11 | 7:00-7:45 PM
Instructor: Mia Phillips
The Virtual class will primarily focus on the writing of the play. There will still be acting as every play moves from the page to the stage via enacted play readings and critique, but the actual production will only be created via Zoom.
Students who come into this class should already have experience with basic theatre concepts and terminology. This will allow the group to write more quickly without having to cover basic theatrical concepts. Absenteeism is strongly discouraged as the work depends on the group being virtually present to work together.
VIRTUAL CLASS STUDENTS should have a space near your computer/tablet with limited distractions that allows room for movement within view of the camera (it’s best to prepare this BEFORE the first class). Every effort should be made to have snack and go to the bathroom BEFORE class time. Parents, please treat this like a regular class. It is most helpful if a parent is close by to help with connection problems if needed.
We will send you any specific supplies your student should have access to during class times (notebook/pencil, coloring materials, etc.) in the reminder email about a week before your class starts.
The link to join the class will also be included in your reminder email. We strongly recommend creating a recurring calendar appointment with the link so it will be easier to find for future classes.
